Projects
  • High School Buckle Up- Every year AIPC works with Anchorage area high schools to promote seatbelt use. Students create their own campaign and implement it in their schools. They provide incentives to students who wear their seatbelts. Their enthusiasm and creativity are fantastic. Here is an example of a youth created seatbelt message.

  • SEAT BELT RAP- Jonas Ely (Service High School)

Listen up ‘cause here’s the truth,
Car crashes are the #1 killer of youth.
Teen deaths in car crashes are twice as many as adults,
If we all wore our seat belts we wouldn’t be having these results.
75% of people ejected from a car will die,
Strap on that belt ‘cause that’s no lie!
The purpose of a seat belt is to prevent ejection,
So put them on for your own protection.
If you don’t wear a seat belt you might be fined sixty bucks,
So next time remember: it pays to buckle up.
Put on your seat belt ‘cause these facts are reality,
And if you don’t, you might become the next fatality.

  • Statewide Seatbelt Use Study- Every year AIPC observes seatbelt use through out Alaska. The study is done in compliance with the National Occupant Protection Use Survey standards. Over the past 11 years seatbelt use has increased from just over 60% to 86.1% This is due to multi-pronged and multi-partnered efforts.
